Quick Overview
Outside of getting late babies into the world on time, this remedy is best known for easing irregular, shifting arthritic pains in small joints– fingers, toes and coccyx, which in women may worsen with PMS. For childbirth, it should not be taken until the baby is running late or it is time to deliver and under the guidance of a health care practitioner!
This remedy has two specialties- arthritic pains in small joints and labor pains or delayed labor during childbirth.
For small joints, primarily fingers, wrists, ankles and toes, it relieves irregular, shifting, cutting pains and arthritic pains that may change place often. In women, these pains tend to feel worse with PMS.
For childbirth, Caulophyllum can be a great help when labor is very late or during labor when pains are deficient. In her book, Pregnancy, Birth and Baby's First Year, Miranda Castro recommends this remedy only when "induction is threatened because you are late for [delivery] dates: take one [dose] every four hours for up to two days - if it doesn't work, either your baby isn't ready to be born or you aren't ready for the birth." This remedy should not be taken until it is time to deliver! Any time pregnancy is involved, we highly recommend consultation with a licensed practitioner.
