Bach Flower Remedies

How they Work?

Bach's Rescue Remedy: A combination of  Bach Flower Remedies

You've got to accentuate the positive.  Eliminate the negative.  Latch on to the affirmative.  Don't mess with Mister In-Between - Johnny Mercer / Harold Arlen

These lyrics sum up what the Bach Flower Remedies are all about.

Bach Rescue Remedy

Cherry Plum, Clematis, Impatiens, Rock Rose, Star of Bethlehem

Whether facing trauma, fear, anxiety, stage fright or even "the blahs", the calming stabilizing presence Bach's Rescue Remedy offers is unrivaled. Designed by Dr. Bach himself, Rescue Remedy is the most popular Flower Essence.

Rescue Remedy

Bach's Rescue Remedy Saves The Day

A Christmas Tale worth telling twice: After getting practically everything she wanted (and more) for Christmas, our customer's 12 year old niece, Shelly, was grateful yet glum, moody and unexcitable. All afternoon she sat alone in her room. The let down after all the festivities was too much. Within half an hour of taking Bach's Rescue Remedy Shelly came out of her room smiling, engaging, grateful and back to her enthusiastic self. She even helped unload the car and set the dinner table without being asked. What a turn around!

Do you wake up at night fixated on a deadline? Rescue Remedy can turn off the buzz and help you sleep. This absolutely safe, non-addictive, no side effects, remedy, 'helps produce positive, calming, stabilizing effects in a wide range of stressful situations.'

Accentuate the Positive! Dr. Bach's natural wild flower remedies offer a method of gaining equilibrium and harmony for the personality. Prepared from the flowers of non-poisonous plants, in a dilution method similar to homeopathy, they work to transform negative attitudes into positive ones - thus helping the body fight disease and stress.

Cherry Plum Flower Remedy

Bach Rescue Remedy Ingredient: Cherry Plum

Uncontrolled, irrational thoughts.

From the Bach Questionnaire:

  • Do you fear losing control of yourself?

  • Are you afraid of hurting yourself and others?

  • Do you have a tendency to act irrationally and violently, exploding into unexplained fits of rage and anger?

In Short:

When frightening thoughts and ideas run away with the imagination. Fear of losing control of the mind. The positive quality of the flower remedy 'Cherry Plum' is one of a rational mind, safe in the knowledge that the terrible fear is controllable.  When you feel you may explode, give way to violent impulses or fits of rage. The flower remedy 'Cherry Plum' can help even when you are on the verge of breakdown. Cherry Plum helps you to find an inner balance so that you can think and act rationally.  20 ml $ 14.95

In depth from Judy Howard:

Cherry Plum

This remedy is for the desperate fear of the mind giving way, of insanity and of the impulse to do harm to other people or to oneself. It is therefore the remedy for those who become prone to thoughts of suicide. The Cherry Plum state may follow a long period of anxiety or depression and those in this desperate frame of mind are often on the verge of a nervous breakdown or feel that they are on the point of madness. The remedy can, however, also be of help when the mood is of an acute or sudden nature, and is indicated wherever there is a lack of emotional control such as sudden outbursts of irrational and sometimes uncharacteristic rage or violence or hysteria, and for this reason is included in Bach's Rescue Remedy.

Clematis Flower Remedy

Bach Rescue Remedy Ingredient: Clematis

Inattentive, dreamy, absent-minded, mental escapism.

From the Bach Questionnaire:

  • Do you often feel spacey and out of touch with the "real world"?

  • Do you find yourself preoccupied and dreamy, unable to concentrate for any length of time?

  • Are you drowsy and listless, sleeping more than necessary?

In Short:

The Flower Essence 'Clematis' helps you when you loose interest in the present, like to be alone and avoid confrontation. You have difficulty in concentrating, due to a tendency to daydream rather than lack of innate ability. Flower Remedy Clematis helps you get a lively interest in the world around you and in life.
20 ml $ 14.95

In depth from Judy Howard:

Clematis

Those of the Clematis type are often of a creative, artistic nature and love to have something to look forward to; something to fantasize about. They can therefore lack interest in the present because their minds are full of hopes and dreams of the future. They may become inattentive, dreamy and absent minded and appear to be in a world of their own, oblivious of what is going on around them. They are inclined to lack concentration and easily become bored with a conversation or event which is not dynamic enough to hold their interest. It may be said of the Clematis type that they hear without listening, see without looking, and forget what they are saying or what is being said to them. This remedy is indicated whenever this state of mind is apparent and is also helpful where there is mental escapism, especially into a sleepy dream-world (like the dormouse from Alice in Wonderland!). It is therefore helpful where consciousness is lost, fainting or where there is a sensation of faintness or bemused state of mind, and for these reasons is included in Bach's Rescue Remedy.

Impatiens Flower Remedy

Bach Rescue Remedy Ingredient: Impatiens

Capable and efficient, yet impatient and irritable.

From the Bach Questionnaire:

  • Are you impatient and irritable with others who seem to do things too slowly for you?

  • Do you prefer to work alone?

  • Do you feel a sense of urgency in everything you do, always rushing to get through things?

In Short:

Capable, efficient; act, think and speak quickly but are frustrated and irritated by slow co-workers; often end up working alone.  For the type of person who's thoughts dwell in the future; for those who are imaginative and creative and fantasize about what might lie ahead. The positive quality of the flower remedy 'Impatiens' helps them to focus their attention on what might be ahead and to be less hasty in thought and action.

In depth from Judy Howard:

Impatiens

Impatiens, as the name suggests, is for the state of impatience and irritability. Those of this temperament tend to be quick in thought and action. Everything is done in a hurry; they cannot wait. People with this nature can become quite brusque with those who are slow and may be tempted to finish a sentence for them, or try to finish the job they are doing. Impatiens people tend to be restless, fretful and jumpy. They move and talk quickly and their body language too can give them away - fidgeting, looking at their watch, edging towards the door in their haste. The remedy simply helps these people to regain their poise so that life is not so rushed; so that they may take their time and enjoy the pleasure of life at a normal pace.  Thought there is an Impatiens 'type'... the remedy will benefit people of any personality if this fame of mind is prevalent.  It is included in Bach's Rescue Remedy for its calming effect when the trauma has caused a degree of mental agitation.

Rock Rose Flower Remedy

Bach Rescue Remedy Ingredient: Rock Rose

Suddenly alarmed, scared, panicky.  For the relief of terror, panic, nightmares.

From the Bach Questionnaire:

  • Do you feel terror and panic?

  • Do you become helpless and frozen in the face of fear?

  • Do you suffer from nightmares?

In Short:

The Flower Essence 'Rock Rose' helps you when you feel terror, such as after being in an accident or having a near escape, or from witnessing an accident. An acute threat- sickness, natural disaster, etc. can cause you to feel frozen, helpless with fear. Flower Remedy 'Rock Rose' helps you to be present in mind and act calm in emergencies.  The positive aspect of Rock Rose is a calm state of mind and peaceful thoughts with the subject of terror placed in true proportion.  20 ml $ 14.95

In depth from Judy Howard:

Rock Rose

This is the remedy for extreme fear; terror, panic. It may not always be rational, but is nevertheless very real. Those who suffer from this state of mind are truly scared and as a result may tremble or perspire with fright. This awful fear may be the result of a horrifying accident, causing the person to become terrified of traveling, undergoing a serious operation, hospitalization and so on. Rock Rose would be indicated in all these circumstances and would also help both children and adults who are troubled by nightmares. Do not confuse it with the description of Mimulus, the remedy for all known fears. If the fear creates panic or sheer terror, then Rock Rose would always be the more appropriate remedy.

Star of Bethlehem Flower Remedy

Bach Rescue Remedy Ingredient: Star of Bethlehem

Neutralizes the effects of shock, serious news, grief, sorrow, or fright.

From the Bach Questionnaire:

  • Have you suffered a shock in you life such as an accident, loss of a loved one, terrible news, illness?

  • Are you numbed or withdrawn as a result of recent traumatic events in your life?

  • Have you suffered a loss or grief that you have never recovered from?

In Short:

The Flower Essence 'Star of Bethlehem' helps both during and after suffering a traumatic experience, even an experience that happened when you were a child.  The positive aspect of the flower remedy 'Star of Bethlehem' is the relief of shock and return to calmness of the mind. Easing shock straight away helps to prevent what might otherwise cause a delayed reaction. 20 ml $ 14.95

In depth from Judy Howard:

Star of Bethlehem

This is Dr. Bach's remedy for shock and is indicated whenever there has been trauma to the system, for example through accident, disturbing news, or a distressing sight. Following a bereavement it helps the bereaved to cope with their grief and ease their pain and sorrow. Sometimes the shock of losing someone dear cannot be expressed; the person at times longing to cry but tears will not come. Star of Bethlehem helps to unblock this passage and relieves the mind of its sadness.  Shock can be delayed, and may eventually manifest itself in a number of ways, sometimes many years after the event. But even if treatment is sought for some other difficulty, if shock has been sustained and can be identified as the cause of the trouble, Star of Bethlehem should always be included. If the shock can be treated without delay, however, the impact of the trauma is lessened and for this reason it is one of the five remedies Dr. Bach included in Bach's Rescue Remedy.
