Phytolacca dec (poke berry)

Those dark red berries that stain hands and clothing on contact, have medicinal effects when prepared homeopathically, though we actually use the root. Phytolacca specializes in dark, red, hot, swollen, sore throats with pain that shoots to the ear when swallowing. This picture may also include hot tears, one sided nasal and sinus discharge, a dark red tip on the tongue and achiness all over. Phytolacca can be a relief in stiff joints with aching heels and shooting pains that ‘fly like electric shocks’. The overriding emotion with all this may be apathy. Phytolacca conditions feel worse in cold damp weather. While it applies to various swellings, they'd best be left to the advice of a healthcare practitioner.
