The fungus ‘dermatophytes’ (ringworm) infects the dead layer of skin and nails causing red itchy ring shaped circular patches (the toenail version tends to thicken and distort the nail). This fungus is responsible for most fungus-related problems, including jock itch and athlete’s foot.
• Sepia - Applies best to the most common cases with circular reddish brown rings that itch, and burn even more after scratching.
• Graphites - Helps when patches are thick and scaly and ooze a thick yellowish fluid.
• Sulphur - Applies to cases that have the most excessive itching and are greatly aggravated by warmth.
• Tellurium - Helps dry, scaly, more defined red rings that may include small blistery eruptions.
• Thuja - Relieves brown rings that are very sensitive to touch.
If a week or two of this combination (longer for toenails) does not bring relief, you might try Rhus tox by itself, since it follows Sepia well, but they should not be taken together.
